Branch of Health and Human Services General Manager

As General Manager for Health and Human Services, Ms. Cruz has management responsibility for all Health and Behavioral Services and Human Services. In this role, she leads, evaluates, develops and implements plans to enhance the health and welfare of community members. The Health and Human Services General Manager reports to the Chief Operations Manager.

Throughout her career, Ms. Cruz has served in numerous professional positions. She worked for the Department of Human Services Addictions and Mental Health for 21.5 years serving in numerous roles including:  Lead Prevention Trainer, Tribal Liaison, Prevention Specialist, Project Officer for Grants, Director of Resource Center and development of statewide Diversity training. Ms. Cruz is a former Deputy Sheriff for Santa Clara County California and also worked in a Housing Project with under served youth. She has experience in Community Prevention, Community Mobilization, Treatment, Training, Curriculum Development, Grant Writing, and Administration. Prior to returning home, Ms. Cruz served as the main author for Oregon Tribal Best Practices and developed curriculum and trainings for certifying prevention specialists.

In 2010 Ms. Cruz received the Indian Health Services Directors Award and in 2007 the Department of Human Services Director Excellence Award.

Ms. Cruz is an enrolled member of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. She received her bachelor’s degree from Eastern Oregon State College and a Certificate of Public Management from Willamette University-George Atkinson Graduate School of Management. She is a Certified Reality Therapist:  Alcohol and Substance Abuse and Mental Health from La Verne College and certified Basic Police Officer for the State of California. She is involved in a variety of community-based and non-profit activities focusing on community and youth.
