Ms. Stacona is the Tribal Council appointed Secretary-Treasurer/CEO of The Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. She provides leadership and direction to all elements of the Tribal organization primarily by interpreting Tribal Council policy goals and mandates. The Secretary-Treasurer/CEO and her principal staff serve as a communication conduit between the Tribal Council and the Tribal organization as well as with other governmental representatives plus the financial community.
As the Secretary-Treasurer/CEO, Ms. Stacona is also responsible for the implementation of the political, financial and governmental actions of the Tribal Council in a manner consistent with Tribal laws. She oversees management of the tribes’ financial affairs, safeguards tribal records and assets, and fulfills the responsibilities delegated through the Tribal Constitution and Management Plan.
Ms. Stacona has a background in accounting and has worked previously for the Confederated Tribes. She served as the Executive Director of the Warm Springs Gaming Commission and also worked in the Finance Department where she held positions as Internal Auditor and Treasury Controller.
Ms. Stacona lived and worked in Warm Springs for about 18 years before taking a job in Arizona in 2012. In Arizona, she continued her career in tribal gaming where she was employed by the Gila River Gaming Enterprises which is owned by the Gila River Indian Community. Ms. Stacona worked in the Corporate Finance Department where she held positions as Accounting Manager and Assistant Controller.
In 2011, Ms. Stacona was selected by the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) to serve on the Tribal Advisory Committee (TAC) to assist the Commission on the review of the Technical Standards and Minimum Internal Controls (MICS).
Ms. Stacona is originally from New Mexico and is an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation. Her daughter is a member of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. Ms. Stacona holds a B.A. degree in Accounting from Fort Lewis College, Durango Colorado. She is a licensed CPA (Certified Public Accountant) in the States of Oregon and Arizona.
